I can't say I have ever been one to shy from controversy, so it's no real suprise that I am going seeking it now. I really cant help myself.
Anyway, it appears last week was the week for black people. They had a cracker.
Obama romped home in a Democrat landslide to steal the American presidency from a genuine American war hero and Lewis 'Hambone' Hamilton managed to steal the Formula 1 world championship from the boys in red. Both were firsts for blacks so it is a pretty big deal. Granted, congratulating the chaps isn't all that controversial.
The fact this I don't think either of them won their respective battles might be.
They both just happened to win because their opponents fucked up and handed them an easy victory.
Lets look at Hambone. But for pit lane stuff ups and (simple unforgivable) strategic gaffs Ferrari would have had both drivers above Lewis for Champion. If that isn't enough for you, Lewis also had to have Glock make an ass of himself on the final lap of the final GP to bank the win. Sure the kid is reasonably quick. But if it wasn't for everyone else handing it too him he wouldn't have won.
On too Obama. McCain had the easiest election in history to win. White, evangelical, maverick war hero versus black kid for President of America. How hard could it be. He certainly made it look hard though.
He lost his message early and took to the last few days of the campaign to get it back. He missed a whole bunch of awesome opportunities to slag Obama and worst of all he appointed that Alaskan fool, Palin, as his running mate. If you are going to appoint a chick as your running mate at least make sure she is smart or super hot and willing to take her clothes off for the camera. Not neither!

Anyway, all is said and done now and Obama has promised a lot and unfortunately for him, has no money to spend to achieve any of it. I see it being a short and dramatic failure of a presidency. Though I could be wrong. Its happened once before.
Cheers
G.
