For those of you who have been dead for the last few days or don't follow Formula 1 (as if), Sunday was the Belgium GP at Spa.
The race was quite a good one, Kimi lead Lewis for most of the race and then, with a few laps to go it started raining.
Kimi, as expected in the wet, eventually punted the car into the wall, but not before Lewis and he had little incident through the Bus Stop.
Hamilton subsequently went on to breeze pas the wreck of Kimi and win ahead of Masa.
Then the FIA stepped in and committed an act of monumental stupidity. They gave Hamilton a penalty. Fuck dammit, what were these fools thinking.
Now I am no McLaren fan and i hate pompous little Lewis. Nor do I think the pass was legit. While Lewis gave back the position coming out of the Bus Stop, he never would have been in a position to make the pass at the end of the straight if he hadn't cut the corner.
The major issue was NO ONE CARED. Ferrari didn't lodge a protest, BMW didn't complain, the marshals just took it upon themselves to change the results and screw with the sports tatty reputation some more.
They might have had the moral high ground, but creating controversy out of nothing is not what the sport needs and someone in marketing should have stepped in and stopped the technical fools before this joke happened.
If someone had protested then this would-be fine, you have scandal either way. But when all is calm and quite you don't go shooting holes in the bottom of the boat just to make it interesting.
Cheers
G.
