Google doesn't seem to be content to sit on the sidelines of anything these days.
Given their near total dominance of the web is seems pretty natural that they would spit out a browser eventually. They control a large chunk of what you see on the net so it makes sense to also want to control how you see it.
Anyway, short and sharp. The Beta is good. it is whickedly fast, minimalist and tidy. Thus far I haven't had a crash or a broken page. Best of all though is I haven't had to install any stupid plugins. Nothing is more annoying tha going to a page and being asked to download a fucking plugin to make it work.
Downloads also appear to work. They pause and resume fine and umm... download.
Grnated a browser isnt exactly rocket science so I'm not suprised that after a rumored two years of development it works.
Wether Google is out to improve the experience for the user or just gather more data for Google remains to be seen I guess.
Cheers
G.
